Music has always moved Joyce, and Joyce loves to move it!  In her younger years, Joyce and her late husband had won country line dancing awards.  They were part of a group known to draw a crowd and bring smiles to the face to everyone who came to see their fancy footwork.  These days, Joyce is far less mobile, but country music still brings a smile to her face, as do the memories of her times visiting her favorite vacation spot, Branson, Missouri.

Kelsey from Serene Care Hospice has gotten to know and love Joyce during their visits, and she told us that Joyce would love to be able to visit Branson with her son Randy.  Though Joyce’s health condition has caused her to have some difficulty with expressive language, the smile on her face at the mention of a Branson getaway to see a show with her son let us know that this was indeed her perfect Dream.

With Dolly Parton Stampede Dinner Show tickets in hand and a gift card for expenses, Joyce and Randy set off on a mother-son road trip to Joyce’s old stomping grounds.  They took their time and Joyce enjoyed taking in the scenery from the car window.  Randy, who inherited his mom’s love of music, loved seeing his mom’s face light up at the sights and sounds of Branson.  While in Branson, they shared some laughs and huge portions of delicious food at Paula Dean’s Restaurant, and the beauty of the waterfront near their hotel, but the highlight of the trip was Dolly Parton’s Country Stampede Dinner Show which incorporated comedy and horses with wonderful music.  Randy and Joyce are so thankful for the chance they had to slow down and “get away from it all”, and we are so happy that they were able to create some special memories that they will cherish forever.

Dreamweaver Foundation would like to thank Serene Care Hospice for introducing us to Joyce through the Dream nomination process.  We would also like to thank the Hilton Promenade at Branson Landing for their wonderful southern hospitality that helped Randy and Joyce relax and enjoy themselves!
