Virginia loved to get her hair done. A fresh cut and color always helped her feel confident. However, since being diagnosed with lung cancer, getting out for an afternoon beauty day was more challenging. With the help of her daughter Tammy and Mikaela from AseraCare, Dreamweaver planned an afternoon of beauty and memories for Virginia.
Virginia grew up in Ord, Nebraska with two sisters and two brothers. She had an active childhood enjoying antique shows, painting, fishing and camping. She worked as a pharmacy tech and custodian and was known to be able to fix everything instead of throwing it away.
When planning Virginia’s Dream, her daughter Tammy was happily involved. She wanted her mom to enjoy a special day just for her—she deserved it! Seeing the love and care between mother and daughter was something special.
Virginia began her day getting dressed in her new Von Maur outfit. Evelyn, their personal stylist, had sent a package to Grand Island filled with new items—a black and green jacket, beautiful jewelry, and shiny new shoes. Virginia looked amazing even before stepping out the door.
With the help of the City of Grand Island, Virginia and Tammy were transported to her hair appointment at Xenon. She spent the next two hours getting beautified in the salon chair. She left with darker brown hair and a perfectly styled new cut.
To end her afternoon outing, she met her granddaughter and great-grandchildren for lunch at Red Lobster. She looked so happy gathered with all the people that meant so much to her. The family was able to share a meal and share memories of good times with Virginia.
“She had a great time!” her daughter Tammy said. Virginia’s Dream Day was so full of excitement, she came home and took a nap. With new clothes, a new hairstyle, and a meal of her favorite food, Virginia was grateful for a memorable day out about town.
Thank you to AseraCare Grand Island, Xenon Salon, Red Lobster, and City of Grand Island for making Virginia’s Dream possible!
