Vicky and her husband, Mark, had their hearts set on a tropical vacation a few years ago. Most of their family vacations were road trips to destinations just a few hours from home. Kansas City, Denver and Black Hills of South Dakota being their favorites! Their passports arrived in the mail just as Vicky received her diagnosis.
The couple put off their trip and reallocated funds to focus on Vicky’s health and treatments. For years, Vicky has been an avid Wheel of Fortune fan! She loves seeing the photos and videos of the Caribbean prizes the contestants can win.
This winter has been especially hard on Vicky. She wished to soak in the warm sunshine, relaxing on a beach like the prizes she sees on Wheel of Fortune. Knowing her mom’s dream, daughter, Becky, wished she could send her mom on the vacation of her dreams. During a conversation with her Bergan Mercy co-workers, Becky was informed about the work of the Dreamweaver Foundation.
Earlier this year, Vicky retired from 30 dedicated years in the registration office at Bergan Mercy. She wasn’t ready to retire yet, but her cancer was progressing and needed treatments more often. Vicky didn’t know what to do with all her time know that she was home. Becky thought, this was the perfect time, so she mailed in a nomination form, hoping Dreamweaver could fulfill her mom’s beachy dream.
After a couple meetings and several planning phone calls, Vicky and Mark were off to Montego Bay, Jamaica. Starting the trip off in style VIP Limo escorted the couple to the airport. By the afternoon, they were dipping their toes in the ocean water and relaxing on the sandy beaches. Vicky and Mark enjoyed all aspects of the resort from the buffet lunches, steakhouse dinners and nightly entertainment. They were unsure if they would be able to relax for five days, but they quickly embraced the resort lifestyle and couldn’t believe how fast the days went by.
Vicky said, “it was so nice, couldn’t have been better.”
Dreamweaver Foundation would like to thank Travel and Transport and VIP Limo for helping us fulfill Vicky’s Dream.
