Family is everything for Valerie. Valerie is a dedicated mom and grandmother, and her health problems have forced this natural caretaker to learn to accept help from others. Valerie was so moved when she learned that Stephanie, her hospice social worker from Methodist Fremont Health Hospice, nominated her for a Dream. It’s no surprise that Valerie’s Dream was to do something special with her family. Valerie told us that time and money have always gotten in the way of her family taking a proper vacation together, and now that time was running out, she was eager to get away and leave their troubles behind!
Dreamweaver rented a van for Valerie and her family to road trip to the Mall of America in Minnesota. Before they embarked on their journey, we made sure that the kids were all outfitted with swimsuits for the hotel pool, the family had passes to the Nickelodeon Universe amusement park, and they had a meal reservation at the famous Bubba Gump Shrimp Company. The family was all set for a fun break from their day-to-day reality, and Valerie enjoyed being able to treat her family to some amazing experiences and souvenirs from their mall adventure!
Some of the highlights from their trip include the dinner at Bubba Gump’s, her daughter and granddaughter getting their ears pierced, and finding some great deals on their favorite team’s jerseys! Daughter Ashley told us that the best part was the peace she felt during the long drive and talks she had with her mom riding shotgun. The trip was the perfect getaway for this wonderful family, and we are so glad that they had a chance to relax, enjoy one another’s company, and make some wonderful memories that they will never forget!
Dreamweaver Foundation would like to thank Methodist Fremont Health Hospice for introducing us to Valerie and her family through our nomination process. We would also like to thank the Radisson Blu Mall of America Hotel for their support and hospitality.
