Connie walked into the keno bar & restaurant and locked eyes with Steve. At that moment, they both knew they had each met the love of their life.
Now, 20 years later, Connie and Steve describe their life as, “it’s been a ride.” They have made it through hard times and enjoyed every second of the good times. Now, they will get through this too, Steve’s bile duct cancer.
Reminiscing through the years, Steve has one wish, to marry the love of his life, Connie! But between battling cancer and navigating COVID-19, they weren’t sure how to make it possible. Steve was sharing this life-long dream with his AseraCare social worker, Kay, and Chaplin, Tom. That’s when Kay reached out to Dreamweaver Foundation for a little help in fulfilling Steve’s Dream.
Just a couple weeks later on a gorgeous fall, October day, Connie met Steve at the alter in Florence Park. The gazebo was beautifully decorated, dressed in greenery, seasonal mums and sunflowers; perfect for a fall wedding.
Surrounded by family and friends they vowed to love each other, just as they had for the last 20 years. AseraCare Chaplin Tom officiated the beautiful ceremony with touching words celebrating their timeless love.
Steve, Connie and their guests enjoyed sparking apple cider and cupcakes to celebrate the newlyweds and this very special occasion. Jonathan captured all the special moments, taking photos during and after the ceremony. From Connie walking down the aisle, to the traditional first kiss and the “cake smash”.
As the limo arrived, their loved ones lined the path, blowing bubbles and wishing them love and happiness as they drove off. When they arrived back at home, Dreamweaver volunteer, Mikki, greeted them with a steak dinner for two, a perfect way to end a truly beautiful and blessed day.
The couple shared, it was so peaceful waking up the next day as husband and wife.
Steve passed a week after he married Connie. It was our honor to be a part of their very special day.
Thank you AseraCare for nominating and officiating the ceremony, Jonathan for capturing their unconditional love, VIP Sedan and Limousine for a memorable ride and Dream Team volunteer Mikki for picking up and delivering their celebratory dinner.
