It had been a few years since he was on the water casting a line. Monica, Hillcrest Care Social Worker, knew his love for fishing but wasn’t sure how to make it happen. That’s when she decided to nominate Pat to fulfill a dream from Dreamweaver Foundation. So, we called David at Live Well. Go Fish. for a little help! Live Well. Go Fish. provides boating and fishing cruises for seniors, youth, veterans, and people with disabilities on a specially equipped, wheelchair accessible pontoon boat.
Finally, it felt like spring had sprung! Patrick had been waiting months for the weather to warm up…it felt like warmer weather may never come. On a sunny and 65 degree day, Pat, his two sisters, fishing buddy and caregiver headed to Lake Wanahoo near Wahoo, NE being escorted by VIP Limo. Showing up to the Lake in a limo definitely turned a few heads!
Even though it was a beautiful day, the water was about 8 degree cooler than normal for this time of year, resulting in fish not biting! I asked Pat what he did when fish wouldn’t bite, he said, “drink beer”. So we got him a Budweiser, his favorite!
It didn’t matter the fish didn’t bite that day, he had fun reliving many memories fishing with his dad and brothers.
His sister Lynn said, “I can’t say enough about how much this meant to all of us…”.
A special thank you to Live Well. Go Fish., Hillcrest Health Services, Caring Companions, Amber Rae Photography and VIP Limo for helping us fulfill Pat’s Dream!
