Mary and her late husband Jerry were avid travelers. When Jerry passed, her passion for traveling didn’t stop. She continued to explore new parts of the United States with her son, David, and daughter, Patty. Florida, Texas and Minnesota were a few, but her favorite trip of all was about six years ago when she spent a few days in North Carolina with daughter Patty and her grandchildren.

Over the years Mary’s health care has changed, making it harder to travel. She expressed to Lydia, CHI health chaplain, her dream to travel one more time. Lydia knew Dreamweaver Foundation might be able to make this happen. Mary wasn’t dreaming of going to a new destination, she wanted to go to her favorite destination—North Carolina. Since her last trip in 2013, she has gained many new great-grandbabies to meet and snuggle!

For five days, Mary (accompanied by her son) spent time with Patty, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed watching the children—who range in age from 9 months to 9 years—play with dolls, trucks and coloring books. An afternoon was even spent splashing around the hotel pool. Mary didn’t venture into the pool, but it sure looked like she did after receiving wet hugs from the grandkids and great-grandkids. Every night after a delicious family meal, Mary and her kids played card games. “I just loved being there with them,” Mary shared when she returned.

As Mary exited the plane to return to Omaha, Patty sent Dreamweaver this note of thanks.  “Thank you for the wonderful opportunity your organization gave to my family to spend five awesome days with my mom. We made many precious memories that we will cherish.”

Thank you, CHI Health Hospice, VIP Limo, Travel and Transport, Keystone Villas Assisted Living and Dreamweaver volunteers Jenny and Mike for helping make Mary’s dream come true.
