Last August Maribeth and her husband, Fred, visited Ireland when the Huskers played “across-the-pond.” But they didn’t travel just to catch the football game, they were also celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary! Ever since their trip, Maribeth and Fred have had the goal to sip Guinness on tap for St. Patrick’s Day. Unfortunately, shortly after their Emerald Isle vacation, Maribeth received a devastating diagnosis. Still determined to achieve their goal, she was nominated for a Dream from the Dreamweaver Foundation.

The Dream Team was determined to help Maribeth celebrate. They swung into action and purchased St. Patrick’s Day decorations, including bead necklaces, balloons, garland, confetti, and of course, Guinness! Her friends and family planned to gather at their home to feast on fish and chips by Brazen Head Irish Pub and sip Guinness.

Prior to her party, Maribeth had her nails painted green and her hair cut and styled. She said she felt pampered like a celebrity! The Dream Team gifted her a green St. Patrick’s Day sweatshirt and a matching one for Fred. Our friends at the 1890 Initiative sent Maribeth a souvenir football signed by Head Coach Matt Rhule and a video from Husker running back, Gabe Ervin Jr., all of which brought a smile to her face!

With their home decorated in grand St. Patrick’s Day style and Maribeth decked out in green, she enjoyed visiting with the party guests, who had gathered to surround her with their love and support. In addition to her fine Irish meal and tasty Guinness, Maribeth enjoyed a marble cake with buttercream frosting– appropriately decorated with shamrocks, a rainbow, and a pot of gold! Maribeth enjoyed everything about her St. Patrick’s Day Dream, especially being surrounded by her loved ones!  The Dreamweaver Team was delighted to help make Maribeth’s Dream a reality.
