A beautiful way to begin the day is by strolling through the garden. For Linda’s Dream, she wanted to escape the cold winds of the Nebraska January winter and get into the warm and vibrant greenhouses of Lauritzen Gardens. Her morning started with beautiful colors and wonderful smells surrounded by good company.
Along with many friends from Serene Hospice and Dreamweaver volunteers, Linda saw hundreds of beautiful flowers, trees and bushes in bloom in the temperate and tropical houses. It felt like a mini vacation, escaping the snow outside to sit under a banana tree. Everyone took their time and enjoyed walking though the winding paths of the indoor exhibits. Some time was spent searching for a cactus Linda donated many years ago—she said it was over 10 feet tall! Lauritzen Gardens was hosting their annual Lego exhibit, so it was also fun to view the detailed works of art made from the tiny bricks.
After exploring the gardens, Linda and her friends spent time in the giftshop admiring more works of art. They shopped for jewelry, home décor, blankets and lotions that reflected the natural beauty of the garden. Strolling the gardens and shopping was a great way to start the day.
Linda returned home happy to have experienced a morning out and about viewing beautiful nature and spending time with friends.
Thank you to Midwest Medical Transportation, Serene Care Hospice and Lauritzen Gardens for making this Dream a reality.
