As a mother, caregiver and substance abuse counselor, Linda has given her life to serving others.
Between raising a daughter and helping others through their struggles, there wasn’t much time for herself. Now, with COPD and breast cancer, she doesn’t always have the strength to fulfill her own needs.
When Lydia, CHI Home Health’s Chaplin, learned Linda had a wish to shop for a few necessities to prep for the cold winter, she knew Dreamweaver Foundation could help make Linda’s dream come true. Due to Linda’s diagnoses, getting out and about can be a challenge and she was concerned she wouldn’t have her needs met before winter arrived.
For weeks, Linda was looking forward to her shopping trip. She created a list to ensure she got all of the essentials – after all, this was her chance to shop for herself and no one else!
For hours, Linda strolled through the aisles and racks making sure she picked out the perfect items— shoes, jeans, a winter coat with a matching scarf and a pair of gloves. Linda was certain to get everything on her list, even a new flashlight! Linda spent the afternoon shopping at JC Penny’s with her crew of shoppers, Ashley her nurse from CHI, Paige from Hillcrest Caring Companions, Ashley from Dreamweaver Foundation and her niece Leigh all the way from Miami, Florida.
She felt excitement and fulfillment checking every item off her shopping list, knowing she would be set when winter weather arrived. Her shopping adventure was followed by a lovely dinner with Lydia and Leigh at Bone Fish Grill. Of course, a meal isn’t complete without dessert and a glass of wine!
After her big day, Linda shared with Dreamweaver, “Thank you so much for all you did for me. I am extremely grateful.”
Thank you VIP Limo for transporting Linda in style, Caring Companions and CHI for ensuring Linda’s care needs were met and Bone Fish Grill for creating a delicious dinner.
