Kathleen’s fondest memory from growing up was when she attended Husker Games with her parents. Thinking back about the days of dressing in red and white and cheering on her favorite team brings a smile to her face. Kathleen was especially looking forward to attending the Spring Game with her daughter, son-in-law and four grandchildren. Due to her cancer progressing, watching from the bleachers would be very uncomfortable. Melissa from AseraCare – Grand Island contacted Dreamweaver Foundation for help to ensure Kathleen would be able to attend the game and be comfortable.

Nebraska Athletics graciously traded Kathleen’s seven bleacher tickets for seven suite seats. Kathleen was able to be comfortable and sit in her wheelchair for the game.

This is what her daughter, Julie, said about Kathleen’s dream, “My mom did have a wonderful time at the spring game. She was all smiles, clapped for all the players and insisted on staying for the whole game. The day would not of been nearly as wonderful without your help. Our seats were perfect and so easy to get to with her wheelchair. The second half of the game she got chilly so her and I sat right inside and watched through the picture windows as Dana sat right on the other side of the glass with the kids. It was a perfect day and exactly what she had been hoping for.”

A few days after her dream, Kathleen passed away. We are honored to be a part of Kathleen’s final weeks and fulfilling her dream

“We will always remember that Husker game as her last good day.”

Thank you to AseraCare Hospice – Grand Island and Nebraska Athletics for helping us fulfill Kathleen’s dream.
