Janel Sunderland
Development Director
Growing up in a small rural community in Nebraska, Janel moved to Omaha 30 years ago and has made this her home and community. She has two older sisters who are her best friends and parents who taught her the importance of unconditional love and support of community. Janel’s biggest loves in her life are her two daughters, Emily, and Megan.
Janel began her professional career with a family business called Sunderland Brothers Company as their VP of Marketing. During her career she always stayed committed to the community by supporting non-profit organizations like Joslyn Art Museum, Omaha Symphony, and Lauritzen Gardens. After several years as an executive committee chair for the Lauritzen Gardens Antique Show, Janel was honored by being asked to be the 2017 General Chair of the Antique and Garden show.
Recently, Janel worked as the Corporate Relations & Special Events Manager for Development at Joslyn Art Museum. During her 4 ½ years with the Museum she was part of the development team during a capital campaign, managed their Gala fundraising events, and created many members special events.
Janel comes to Dreamweaver Foundation with love of community and desire to support those who are less fortunate. Her community connections will bring a new voice and awareness to the Dreamweaver Foundation’s mission of Connecting Hope and fulfilling dreams for those that are battling with a life-limiting illness and living on a low income. Janel now resides in downtown Omaha, and enjoys long hikes, collecting antiques, cooking with her daughters, going out to dinner with friends, and staying engaged in the community.
