Sweet childhood memories are the stuff of Dreams for Gloria. Gloria is an animal lover, and some of her fondest childhood memories are from her family’s trips to the Lincoln Children’s Zoo. When we met Gloria at South Haven Living Center in Wahoo, she lit up telling us about her fond memories of spending time with her siblings at the zoo. She told us that it would be a Dream come true to visit her old happy place with her sister, Karen!
The sun was shining, and a breeze was blowing for Gloria’s Dream Day. Erin, one of Gloria’s favorite staff from South Haven, went along to help push Gloria’s wheelchair, manage her medications, and take beautiful pictures of the sisters reliving their childhood! The Lincoln Children’s Zoo worked with us to arrange special access for our Dreamer, including a private meet and greet with a very cute armadillo, an opportunity to feed the giraffes, and a train ride around the zoo. Gloria was especially excited to see that her old friend “Leo the Lion”, an interactive trash compacter, was still there—and of course she couldn’t resist posing for a picture with her old pal. To cap off a perfect morning at the zoo, the sisters went to Gloria’s favorite restaurant, Acapulco Mexican Grill, for a delicious meal!
Dreamweaver Foundation would like to thank our friends at South Haven Living Center for introducing us to Gloria through the nomination process and for their help in making sure that Gloria was well cared for throughout her Dream Day. We would also like to thank the Lincoln Children’s Zoo for their help with planning the perfect day for Gloria!
