Eileen has enjoyed live theater and music for many years. She would attend plays, musicals and other performances regularly, in awe of the actors and their talents. Eileen connected with the lyrics of the songs, was moved by the storyline and loved the colorful costumes.
Because of her diagnosis of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, Eileen has comfortably settled in to her new home at Sumner Place in Lincoln. She has taken on leadership roles within the community and is truly a social butterfly. Eileen’s warm and friendly spirit shines to everyone she meets. Shannon from Sumner Place knew that Eileen was so deserving of a Dream, so he nominated her to go see a performance.
Dreamweaver Foundation met with Eileen in early May 2019 to discuss the details of her Dream. The performance she wanted to go to—Phantom of the Opera—wasn’t playing until later in the Fall. But she knew it would be worth the wait!
Eileen went shopping for a new outfit at Von Maur and found something that made her feel beautiful. On the day of her Dream, Eileen and her sister Chris got ready at Sumner Place, fixing up their hair and makeup. The van driver, Mark, escorted them to the Lied Performing Arts Center for an afternoon at the Theater.
Eileen, her sister Chris and her niece Jessica found their seats as Eileen said, “I can’t believe I’m here!” over and over. The show began, and the ladies settled in for the Phantom of the Opera.
After an incredible show, the girls headed back to Sumner Place for a steak dinner. Eileen said she hadn’t had a great steak in over five years, and Texas Roadhouse really hit the spot. The day ended with a sweet treat— a chocolate brownie with a cherry on top!
Through the pictures, Eileen’s incredible light shines through her smile. She waited months for her Dream Day. When it finally arrived, she looked and felt beautiful, spent time with the ones she loved and was moved and inspired by the live theater that she had enjoyed many years before.
Thank you to Sumner Place, Von Maur, Lied Performing Arts Center and Texas Roadhouse for making this Dream a reality for Eileen!
