Dorothy was so surprised to be nominated for a Dream with Dreamweaver Foundation that she didn’t know what she wished to do. However, for a long time, she has wanted to have her hair cut short. Knowing that it would be more manageable to maintain, Dorothy decided she wanted her hair cut in a short style for her Dream. In addition to her new do, Dorothy received a manicure and pedicure. She felt like a queen and was impressed by how soft her hands and feet felt following her nail appointment. She even accepted a drink to sip on while she was being pampered.
Dorothy has a great sense of humor and a special way of making everyone feel included in her circle of friends. She was instant friends with Amy the hairdresser, our friends at Omaha Mobile Nails, Tami the Dreamweaver Foundation volunteer, and everyone else involved in her special day. Making her day even more outstanding, Dorothy wore her new lounge outfit and new pair of slip-on sneakers gifted to her by the Dream team. This was the first pair of new shoes that she had owned in many years.
After all the pampering, Dorothy and her friends gathered in the community room to share Kentucky Fried Chicken, Pepsi, and cherry pie. Since she had expressed her love for KFC, not only were the tablecloth and plates themed with red and white stripes, but Dorothy was also gifted a KFC t-shirt. It truly is the little things in life that make the biggest difference.
Toward the end of the party, Dorothy shared a bit of advice from her 93 years on Earth- we should all forgive people, there is no reason to hold a grudge. It meant so much to Dorothy to be treated like royalty, she was so grateful for her Dream. Dorothy’s only request before her party ended was a hug from everyone involved in her special day. The Dream team was happy to play a part in Dorothy’s special day.
