Colleen, Hillcrest Health Services Chaplin, nominated Dorothy to fulfill her dream and thought she might like to take a stroll through Lauritzen Gardens with her son, Mike, but Dorothy had another idea. She wanted to do an activity she used to do weekly, run errands at Target and have lunch at La Mesa.
Dorothy has wished to run errands for some time. She has resided at Hillcrest Shadow Lake for a couple of years since her dementia diagnosis. Before moving to Shadow Lake, she loved to go shopping at Target (who doesn’t!) getting all the items, plus more, from her shopping list.
Midwest Medical escorted Dorothy and her Hillcrest Shadow Lake nurse, Patty. Mike welcomed the excited ladies to Target. They enjoyed walking around trying on all sorts of hats, viewing all the new fall décor and of course crossing off all the items on Dorothy’s shopping list. She took back to Shadow Lake several big Target shopping bags full of Husker shirts and sweatshirts, winter coat and winter clothes, shoes, tops, and Halloween candy. If you walk by Dorothy’s room, expect to be offered a treat!
It had been so long since she was at Target, it’s bigger and has so many more things then she remembered. Instead of going to La Mesa, Mike offered to pick-up her chips and guacamole while she rested at Hillcrest Shadow Lake.
Thank you Hillcrest Health, Patty and Midwest Medical for partnering with us to fulfill her dream.
