“It all started with a pair of shoes.” This phrase can be used to describe not only Cinderella, but also Donna Kaiser’s Dream. The Amedisys hospice team reached out to Dreamweaver Foundation after Donna expressed that she desperately wanted a new pair of shoes. The Dream team met with Donna, learning not just about her Dream of new shoes but also of her upcoming move to her daughter’s home in Beatrice. So, Donna and the Dream team decided the only thing better than a new pair of shoes would be one last hoorah with all her family before making the big move!
With her birthday on the horizon, the Dream team decided to celebrate Donna’s special day early while her entire family was together in one place. It took some convincing, but after a while, Donna agreed to let the Dream team spoil her with not just new shoes but also a new outfit, a manicure, and a haircut and style for her big day! Once we had convinced Donna we could spoil her, she was excited to arrive at her party in a limousine, making it her first ever limo ride!
Donna was showered with much love and early birthday good wishes by the family and friends gathered in Blair! Our friends at Hy-Vee provided a catered meal for all in attendance and to ensure Donna could enjoy the meal just as much as her guests, they prepared a special meal to accommodate her food allergies. Surrounded by her family and enjoying each other’s company, Donna “had the time of her life.”
Donna’s daughter, Janice, noted how spectacular it was to honor her mom, shower her with love, and toast her with all her loved ones in attendance. Janice described her mom’s Dream as “the most amazing experience of their lives” and that the Dreamweaver Foundation are “angels that came in the right time” to assist with the transition.
It was an honor to fulfill Donna’s dream, and just as Cinderella taught us, a new pair of shoes can change your life!
