Dan loves trying to hit the jackpot! He did once in Las Vegas, winning $1,500. When Shannon, Dietitian at Sumner Place, learned of Dan’s love for slot machines and gambling, he nominated Dan to fulfill a dream from Dreamweaver Foundation.
Dan has been to Las Vegas four times and dreamt to return one more time. Due to his Parkinson’s and COPD diagnosis, traveling can be difficult. Dreamweaver Foundation worked with Harrah’s Casino in Council Bluffs to give Dan a Las Vegas experience close to home.
Midwest Medical escorted Dan and his wife from Lincoln to Council Bluffs. Kristen, Dan’s daughter, son-in-law, Home Instead Senior Care caregiver and Dreamweaver Foundation Dream Coordinator greeted the high rollers at Harrah’s. On behalf of Harrah’s, Dreamweaver Foundation presented Dan with Harrah’s memorabilia including buffet tickets and slot play. It has been a few years since Dan has been to a casino and he was ready to start gambling! His luck was running high, winning over $100 on his first slot machine.
Kristen said, “He had a blast.” Even though he didn’t win the “big” jackpot he still left the casino as a winner. Dan won’t tell anyone how much he won. He just smiles and laughs when asked about his winnings!
Thank you Harrah’s, Mid-West Medical, Home Instead Senior Care Bellevue and Sumner Place for partnering with Dreamweaver Foundation.
