As an avid hunter and fisherman, Dale loves the great outdoors. Due to different health concerns, the last few years have been tough for Dale. He moved from his farm near Wahoo to South Haven Living Center in Wahoo. He loved to tinker around the garage, fixing this and that. Now, he still enjoys getting outside, taking short walks appreciating nature’s gifts.

When Holly from South Haven heard about the opportunity for a senior to spend a week at Aspen Resort in Minnesota fishing and creating memories with their family, she knew the perfect person to nominate. Dale was a little nervous about leaving the comfort of South Haven and traveling nine hours to the lake, but he decided he couldn’t pass up a fishing trip with his son, daughter-in-law and three grandchildren. Dale couldn’t even remember the last time he went fishing, it had been so long ago! In preparation for his weeklong adventure, South Haven’s Physical Therapist practiced fishing techniques with Dale, even taking him to Lake Wanahoo a few times. In no time, Dale was ready to catch all the fish on Pelican Lake in Orr, MN.

Dale and his family spent a week relaxing at Aspen Report, enjoying the many activities the resort offered, including nightly campfires with unlimited s’mores and minnow races. The best part was taking the pontoon boat out on the water trying to catch Perch, Crappie, Bluegill and bigger game fish like Walleye, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass and Northern Pike.

“Just wanted to thank you and the Dreamweaver Foundation for giving my father this wonderful experience. As you know from our discussions, the last few years have been exceptionally hard on him both physically and mentally. To be able to experience a trip like this, at this particular time, was truly a blessing not soon to be forgotten. The informal, down to earth owners of the resort, along with your generosity, made for a wonderful week. God bless you and thanks again for all you do. “ – Dan Freeman, Dale’s son

Thank you Aspen Resort and South Haven for partnering with us to fulfill Dale’s Dream.
