Audrey and Milford reside at St. Joseph Rehabilitation and Care Center in Norfolk, NE where they both receive hospice care.  The pandemic has been hard on this social couple who miss seeing their friends and celebrating life.  With Audrey and Milford’s 53rd wedding anniversary approaching, their hospice social worker, Jennifer, called Dreamweaver to see if we could help put the wind back in their sails with a surprise lunch with friends.

Audrey and Milford knew that they would be going out to lunch for their anniversary—the surprise was that their best friends, whom they hadn’t seen in a long time due to the pandemic, would be joining them!  Dreamweaver Foundation reserved a table for six at Audrey and Milford’s favorite restaurant, Black Cow Fat Pig, and their care team invited the surprise guests!

Audrey and Milford’s eyes filled with tears when they saw their friends in the restaurant’s party room.  Above the table hung a banner with Audrey and Milford’s picture—wishing them a happy anniversary!  The group hugged, laughed and caught up over a delicious lunch of Reuben sandwiches and French fries!  To further celebrate their long life together, the happy couple were toasted with glasses of iced tea.  Audrey and Milford brought the banner back home to their room and the staff helped them hang it as a reminder of their Dream lunch date with good friends!

Dreamweaver Foundation would like to thank Faith Regional Health Services and St. Joseph Rehabilitation and Care Center for their help with orchestrating this Dream.
